At Brandon Centre, we recognise the immense pressures teachers face in balancing work, personal life, and supporting their students’ wellbeing.
To help teachers navigate these challenges, we offer a variety of confidential support services, including coaching, wellbeing consultations, therapy, and supervision. Our goal is to provide teachers with the guidance, tools, and emotional support they need to thrive both personally and professionally.
Our Services for Teachers and Schools
Individual Coaching Sessions
Coaching is a form of personal or professional development. It is a confidential space to think about personal or work goals or challenges and explore potential solutions or next steps. The coach will provide tools and strategies that can be used to help individuals move closer to achieving their goals.
This form of development empowers teachers to clarify their objectives and create positive change in their work and life
Individual Wellbeing Consultations
Wellbeing consultations provide teachers with the chance to speak one-on-one with a qualified mental health professional (psychotherapist or psychologist). Many teachers face difficulty balancing the competing demands of work and home life, and this confidential space is designed to explore how work impacts personal wellbeing, or vice versa.
These sessions can be used to explore challenges in the interrelations of work and personal wellbeing and to think of what coping strategies can be used in order to build up resilience and improve wellbeing.
Psychotherapy Sessions
For those who need to explore personal challenges or mental health difficulties in greater depth, we offer psychotherapy sessions with a qualified mental health professional. Therapy provides a confidential space to address more complex or long-standing issues. Therapy is a safe, supportive space to explore your inner world and improve emotional resilience.
One-to-One Supervision for Mental Health Leads
For teachers or school staff responsible for managing their organisation’s mental health needs, we offer one-to-one supervision sessions. These sessions are tailored to provide a supportive and informative space to debrief and receive guidance on:
- Managing the mental health needs of students or staff
- Responding to complex cases or challenging situations
- Developing strategies for promoting mental health and wellbeing across the school
This supervision is essential for mental health leads looking to ensure their school is providing the best possible mental health support.
Tackling persistent absenteeism
Schools can commission our parent support programme ‘Return to Learn‘ to tackle persistent absenteesism. We can run six-week parenting programmes (for up to 8 parents per group), utilising our successful Systemic Integrative Treatment (SIT) model which continuously get children back into schools. These groups aim to help parents understand their children’s challenges, provide practical strategies to encourage regular school attendance, and strengthen the positive connection with staff at school.
As part of this package there is also tailored staff training customised to equip teachers with the skills and knowledge to support students struggling with persistent absenteeism. The trainings are tailored to the specific needs of the school, and will include information on effective engagement strategies, understanding the complexities of persistent absenteeism, and fostering positive communication between the staff and family systems.
Given the national issue of persistent absenteeism, a systemic approach is seen as one of the most effective ways to tackle this issue, and to support children and young people to get the most out of their education.
