‘She is Supported (SIS)’ is an empowering project in collaboration with Brandon Centre, Mary’s Youth Club, Prospex and Highbury Roundhouse. Funded by Mercers Charitable Foundation, ‘She is Supported (SIS)’ is dedicated to providing support for young Islington girls (9-17 years old).
We have successfully been delivering this work since 2024 and will continue to do so until 2028. The project was established in response to Islington identifying girls as a priority group needing additional support. Brandon Centre, Highbury Roundhouse, Mary’s Youth Club and Prospex came together and collaborated to address this need, aiming to provide more targeted services and resources to support girls’ wellbeing, mental health, support and development in the borough.
Our offer includes personalised 1-to-1 mentoring sessions with qualified youth workers, providing a confidential space for girls to discuss their concerns, futures, set goals, and receive guidance. The weekly girls’ group activities (delivered at Mary’s Youth Club, Prospex and Highbury Roundhouse) foster a sense of community, allowing girls to connect, learn new skills, share experiences, and build lasting friendships. The girls groups are supported by a Community Psychologist at Brandon Centre to enhance the mental health and wellbeing support provided.
As part of our commitment to holistic development, an annual residential trip and day trips are available, allowing girls to explore new environments, broaden their horizons, build friendships, and gain valuable life skills. ‘She is Supported (SIS)’ fosters a supportive environment where Islington girls can thrive.
Access to the offer is available to young people engaged with our girls’ work at one of the youth hubs. These open-access sessions are delivered during term time and take place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
